I LOVE ‘going to work’ everyday! Each morning takes me to Bethany, our Sisters of Notre Dame retreat center in Chardon.
Since 1981, the sisters have used Bethany for retreats and days of prayer and reflection. Several years ago we explored the possibility of opening Bethany for use by local parishes and other groups. In August, 2012, I became the full-time Director of Bethany and began to welcome others to come to this holy place and experience God’s goodness and provident care in their lives.
As Director of Bethany, besides the everyday running of a retreat center (which is kind of like running a ‘spiritual’ Bed and Breakfast!), I schedule and welcome various groups for weekend and day programs. I also facilitate spiritual offerings throughout the year such as Coffee and Contemplation for women, Advent and Lenten times of reflection and quiet days of prayer—to name a few.
It brings me much joy to share our spirituality and our place of silence and prayer with others and in turn, to be blessed by the holy lives of those who come to Bethany. This past year, we welcomed over 800 people to Bethany!
Bethany is a special ministry of the Sisters of Notre Dame—and I’m just the lucky person who gets to care for it right now!
