Take action now to eliminate gender-based violence. This year the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, a global campaign coordinated by The Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL), will launch the 16 Days Campaign, marking their third year of advocacy. From November 25 through December 10, the 16 Day Campaign will be raising awareness and advocating against militarism and it’s institutional, cultural, and psychological impact on all of our communities. The 16 Days Campaign will highlight three areas of concern: violence perpetrated by state actors, domestic violence and the role of small arms, and sexual violence during and after conflict. Also being developed by CWGL, is the 2012 Take Action Kit, to provide activists with knowledge products, tools, and resources to facilitate organizing and advocacy during the Campaign; available in 26 different languages. The Campaign is successful because of the activism of millions of women and tens of thousands of organizations worldwide, who are committed to ending gender-based violence. Help hold our governments responsible; challenge the structures that continue to perpetuate militarism; speak for the thousands of women who have been silenced.
