Sister Kathleen Hine Honored with George Goudreau Award

Sister Kathleen (Kate) Hine, SND, received the Goudreau Award during the 6th Annual Newman Foundation Dinner held on Friday, October 5.  Sr. Kate, along with Sr. Mary Ann Spangler, HM, were recognized for their work with young adults and their involvement with outreach and spiritual direction programs through the Newman Catholic Campus Ministry.

Sr. Kate has been involved with young adults on many levels.  She was the director of Cuvilly House, a welcoming space for Catholic young adults, offering retreats, discernment support and spiritual mentoring.  Cuvilly House regularly welcomed young adults from college campuses, for week-long retreat programs that included service opportunities.

In 2017, Sr. Kate took on a new role as CORL Sister-Liaison Coordinator for the Summer Fellows Program.  This program introduced young adults to Catholic ministries in hopes that these young professionals might consider careers with a Catholic organization.

The mission of the Newman Foundation of Northern Ohio is to support the work of Newman Catholic Campus Ministry at non-Catholic colleges and universities in the Diocese of Cleveland.  The Goudreau Award was established in honor of one of the founding members of the Newman Foundation, George Goudreau.
