The Sisters of Notre Dame Provinces in the United States Statement on the Shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue

The Sisters of Notre Dame in Provinces in the United States mourn the death and abhor the acts of violence against worshippers at the Tree of Life Synagogue.  To be hunted, shot, injured and/or killed during a worship service is senseless, vile and beyond comprehension.  This reprehensible act caused irreparable harm to those inside the Synagogue, the first responders, family members and the nation. We join with all who condemn such a ruthless and intolerable act.  Any violence against a group based on religion, nationality or gender must be condemned and confronted with the strongest possible measures.

We join with the nation in prayer for our sisters and brothers in the Jewish Community and all who suffered such a great loss.  We ask our loving God of life to strengthen those so deeply affected and all who join with them in their sorrow.

We stand with the Tree of Life Synagogue in calling for the nation to address the issue of gun violence.
