Profiles in Ministry – Sister Ann Marie Kanusek, SND

In the 70’s, I studied at Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Studies in Middleburg, Virginia. This step was taken in preparation for religious work outside the formal classroom setting.   In July of 1990, I began my ministry as Director of Religious Education, at St. Joan of Arc parish in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.  Over the years, my job description has changed. Currently, I am a Pastoral Associate at St. Joan of Arc.

My role as Pastoral Associate has so many facets.  I am the Virtus Administrator. I make visits and take Communion to the nursing and assisted living facilities, located within our parish, plus, coordinate the parish volunteers who also make visits.  My ministry has me serving as the parish wedding coordinator, as well as doing the liturgy planning for parish funerals.

I love the interaction with all the different age levels!  The opportunities to engage with the members of the St. Joan of Arc parish are endless.  Whether it is through my involvement as Spiritual Director for the Women’s Guild, the Right to Life group, Archangels for Life, or, in my work with the Parish School of Religion program, I get to help where and when needed.  From youngest to oldest, I enjoy each group and what we share with each other.

Over the years, I have relied on our good and provident God for sooo many things and He has never forgotten me.  I love what I do no matter what it has been or, is now.  I thank the good God for giving me the gifts and talents to do His work.  As the prayer reads:  I have no feet but yours, no hands but yours…

Let us pray for more hands and feet and heart to carry on our good God’s love for all!
